Position Summary

As a Hybrid Cloud Engineer (HCE) Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of our Cloud-Based and on premises systems and applications. In this role, you will lead and work closely with the development, operations, and security teams to ensure that our systems are scalable, reliable, and secure. It is expected as the Team leader for Hybrid Cloud Engineering that you will make recommendations for enhancements, upgrades, and new products to meet the dynamic needs of the college while also supporting these technologies in a hands on manner with the HCE team as needed.

The Hybrid Cloud Engineer Team Lead will demonstrate a firm grasp of emerging Cloud-Based and on-premises technologies, platforms, and applications and an ability to customize them to help the college become more secure and efficient. Maintaining extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance, experience in managing staff, and advanced industry knowledge is essential to keep the college on the cutting edge. This will have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of IIT operations and an ongoing impact on growth.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Transfer knowledge of best practices/trends across Cloud and on-premise technologies to provide thought leadership and mentor the Hybrid Cloud Engineering team in building the necessary designs and processes, including the acquisition of the services.


Provides oversight and hands-on escalated technical support in the implementation and maintenance of server systems for both instructional and administrative functions including services such as Microsoft; DHCP, DNS, Sharepoint, Teams, Teams Phone, M365, Entra, etc.) Additionally, I lead team members with on-premises technologies such as VMWare/ Hyper-V, Microsoft AD, physical servers, storage arrays, and fiber channels.

Responsible for the accuracy and effectiveness of standards, processes, and procedures used internally by HCE staff regarding the management and maintenance of on-premise, Cloud, and HCE-responsible resources.

Lead Hybrid Cloud Engineers within Infrastructure|Cloud|Security to identify and implement the most optimal and secure cloud-based solutions for the college.

Provide project management oversight to HCEs while working closely with the Hybrid Cloud Services Project Manager.

Lead the change management processes to ensure that all changes are recorded and evaluated and that authorized changes are prioritized, planned, tested, implemented, documented, and reviewed in a controlled manner.

Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures. Monitor systems and services used at all AACC locations to ensure the availability of applications and services.

Assist the Director of infrastructure, Cloud, and security in the college-wide budget planning process to review and ensure new initiatives are properly vetted for technology needs. Oversee the development of SOWs, RFPs, and RFQs for Information and Instructional Technologies-related technologies and maintenance while working very closely with the Purchasing department. Communicate with vendors, customers, management, and technology staff.

Maintain expertise in current Cloud computing trends and provide guidance about the direction of various Cloud technologies.

Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to explain technical information to non-technical staff and leadership. Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment with the ability to interface with all levels of staff.

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Assurance, or a related discipline.

A minimum of 5 years of experience independently resolving complex technical issues involving public Cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure and a minimum of 3 years of experience supervising technical staff.

In-depth knowledge of one or more public cloud providers, including computing, storage, networking, and security services.

In-depth experience leading the migration of workloads to the cloud. Preferably to Microsoft Azure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including off-hour support in emergencies and support for scheduled downtime. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience with serverless architectures and managed services.

Certifications: Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate, Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert. However, other Cloud provider certifications will be considered.

Have an advanced working knowledge in both Azure Virtual Desktop and Virtual Labs environments.

Reporting experience. Microsoft Power-BI, Tableau, etc...
