Job Description

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Phoenix manages large amounts of data in structured and unstructured databases, such as MS SQL, Access, and Excel. The Data Analyst will work with all levels of employees across multiple departments to understand, optimize, and modernize business practices. The Data Analyst collects, analyzes, and organizes data to assist other team members. The Data Analyst will work in the IT department, is located in Largo, MD, and reports to the Director of IT.

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt (hourly)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gathers, analyzes, models, interprets, and presents data from various data sources.
  • Collaborates with a software developer to enhance existing database systems.
  • Ensures the quality of data maintained in Microsoft Access databases.
  • Reviews, validates, and consolidates data from multiple sources.
  • Collects and reports on a variety of data.
  • Performs data extraction, creates reports, and runs ad-hoc queries.
  • Builds, reports, and reconciles to system data.
  • Communicates with users to enhance business processes and resolve data issues.
  • Establishes organizational standards and written procedures.
  • Works in a team environment as well as independently.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 1 year of experience as a Data Analyst or prior experience in a technical position (i.e., developer, technical support, quality assurance).
  • Very strong technical database background, and very good analytical and communication skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Access and Excel.
  • Technical skills in most of the following areas: SQL, data visualization, machine learning, data warehousing, and data prep.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to details.
  • Demonstrated collaboration, writing, project management and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to do research.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Some experience with VBA highly desired.
  • Possess or ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and physical, as required.
