We have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Assistant to join our Office of Publishing.

The Science Partner Journals (SPJ) Marketing Assistant will support and assist the journals marketing team with marketing efforts to help increase submissions, awareness, growth and branding for the Science Partner Journal (SPJ) program.

This person will work under the direction of the Senior Marketing Manager and will collaborate closely with key stakeholders on the marketing team, the publishing product team and with society partners. The SPJ Marketing Assistant will support the Senior Marketing Manager and Marketing Associates with assigned tasks to ensure the promotion of journal titles within the SPJ portfolio.

As the Marketing Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the execution of marketing strategies and campaigns for the Science Partner Journals program. What You'll Do

  • Support the Journals Marketing team in delivering marketing efforts both nationally and internationally for a portfolio selection of journals and newly launched journals within the Science Partner Journals program.
  • Work with the marketing associates and sr. marketing manager to develop, copy, and lists research for email campaigns, digital ad promotions, collateral, and social media ads (e.g. Facebook and Linked)
  • Assists with managing the reporting and planned marketing activities from annual strategic marketing plans and goals for a select portfolio of journals..
  • Support the team to track and analyze marketing and journal data to monitor key performance indicators with the goal of positively affecting these KPIs.
  • Contribute to monthly and quarterly reports to stakeholders on progress of various campaigns and associated impact to achieving associated goals.
  • Perform administrative duties such as processing invoices, conference logistics support, ordering of promotional items and managing campaign payments processing as needed.
  • Proof marketing copy for product promotions. SPJ journals website, email campaigns, and print/digital collateral.
  • Assist with managing Science Partner Journals media channels, including Facebook and Twitter platforms
  • Stay up-to-date with marketing industry trends and tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Be detail-oriented and organized
  • Work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Be internet-savvy, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and adept at quickly learning new software
  • Have experience with social media and HTML is preferred
  • Adapt well when encountering change
  • Knowledge of project management software (i.e. BaseCamp) a plus
  • Interest in scientific communication and scholarly publishing

The anticipated initial rate of compensation for this position is $50,000 - $55,000 per year. AAAS currently provides the following benefits for this position: paid vacation leave, paid sick leave, paid holidays, health insurance, flexible spending account, dental insurance, life insurance, vision insurance, retirement benefits, short- and long-term disability, each subject to the terms of the applicable program. Additional benefits may apply.
