The Telecommunications Technician Skill Level 2 installs, configures, provisions, and tests, integrated and repair telecommunication network systems components in direct support of the government's mission. Telecommunications networks can include video, telephone core switching devices, peripheral devices, and PBXs. The supported networks include convergent networks which include both IP and legacy telecommunications networks. Analyzes telecommunications characteristics (e.g., traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes and throughput) and recommends procurement, removals and modifications to network components. Conducts site surveys; plans installations, transitions and cutover of telecommunications components and capabilities. Installs hardware. Coordinates requirements with users and suppliers. Provides Tier 2 on-site and remote supports to telecommunications equipment.
